Municipal council summary

Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant attended the municipal council meeting on April 8:

The Ville has confirmed that the MRC des Laurentides has approved the paving of a sector of the P’tit Train du Nord around lac Mercier which will also cross part of the lake. We support the position of the Association du lac Mercier which has presented solid and reasonable arguments to delay the work until an independent environmental study is carried out and alternative materials are considered.

We understand that a representative of the Association du lac Mercier will attend a meeting next month with the Ville & the MRC. Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant hopes that a solution can be found to protect lac Mercier.

Approved — Health center: regulation (2024)-224 decrees an expenditure of $3,600,000 and a loan of $2,600,000 for the preparation of plans and quotes and for the work to extend the sewer and water networks.

Approved — Additional financing for the purposes of acquiring the lots forming the Beach & Tennis ($7.4 million).

Refused — The image plan study for a 10-house project on chemin des Skieurs.

We agree with the Ville’s decision to refuse a request to modify the regulation for a drive-thru service at Canadian Tire which would result in a long line of idling cars emitting pollution.

Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant presented a photo of a house located at 150 chemin Desmarais; work was recently carried out on the building which effectively enlarged the top floor. We still can’t figure out how this building meets the 2 floors plus basement limit. The Ville should enforce the spirit of its regulations until they are strengthened.

Refused “for the moment” and for legal reasons: a request to modify the zoning of the rue Cuttle sector (LAGO).
