Despite an unfavourable opinion from the Comité consultatif d’urbanisme (CCU), the Ville de Mont-Tremblant has granted LAGO a permit for the construction of an outdoor car elevator.
An important precedent has now been established. Car elevators emitting up to 70 decibels could be built throughout the Ville. Please note: 70 decibels corresponds to a sound level 100 times more intense than the Ville’s current regulations (50 decibels).
Groupe Action Rue Cuttle, which brings together concerned and worried citizens, has filed a request for judicial review in court to have the elevator permit canceled. The plaintiffs allege that the Ville faces a $100 million claim due to environmental damage and reduced property values if the elevator is built.
